"Trying" Sketches part 1

I have been distraught, exhausted and frustrated lately. I made the decision to channel all of that frustration into improving my art.
I've titled these sketches "Trying" short for "Trying is the first step to failure"
I am in a much better mood since drawing these although all of my frustrations remain.

All of these faces came out of my head.
Perhaps I have seen these features on random passersby?

Drawings of Sorts Part I

I have been busy with life and neglected to update.
Here are some personal works I've done from last year.
Hopefully soon I will have more time for personal projects to show here.

~*~

"Jane Doe I"

This is a remake of a drawing I did back in 2005.
I was horribly depressed and started drawing hollow, limbless women with
strands protruding from the empty spaces.
I've done a few of these. I may redo the others.
This one was my favorite.

"Jane Doe II"

The day after I redrew Jane Doe I, I made a new Jane Doe.
I have not previously done this one.
I wanted her string limbs to be facing the wrong way.
I envisioned her being a sad creature with an unusual crawl.
Probably painful as well.

"Always Within the Hour"

I wanted to convey slight humiliation and
loneliness.

I've been listening to a lot of
Anna Varney Cantodea, hence the title.

"Bringer of Sadness"

At the time I drew this, I wanted to draw a
raven, a man with long, wavy hair, and a velvet cape
(velvet is incredibly hard to draw, especially with my limited resources).
There is a story to this drawing.
I have an idea of it,
but I want the viewer to decide it for themselves.
It's a disturbing story.

"Jiang Shi"

While preparing for Ruin's Twilight Vampire Ball,
I made several drawings with vampire reference.
This is the result of one of them.
Chinese Vampire. The Hopping Corpse. The Jiang Shi.
I wrote "I hate you" in Chinese.
Not sure how accurate it is.

"The Unfortunate Woman"

This drawing was also done for the Twilight Ball.
I think I may have read about a creature like this some time ago.
Or I might have made it up.
Whatever she is; she is a sad soul who roams at night
drinking the blood of those who are also sad.

As soon as I get in possession of the rest of my drawings, I will update.
Thank you for looking.

All drawings were drawn on bristol paper using Pigmented Pens, Indian Ink, black charcoal,

Black Hearts

Back in February, I decided to show some of my artwork
for the Night Gallery at Ruin.
When I asked to be in the show, I didn't have anything prepared,
and since I work best under pressure,
I gave myself a little less than a week to come up with 2 drawings.
And here they are:

"Black Hearts"

"Cupid"

The Night Gallery was to be on the day after Valentine's Day, so I wanted to incorporate my vision of "Cupid" into the drawings. I wanted Cupid to be a somewhat androgynous creature that would appeal to both genders (more or less, I suppose). I also wanted Cupid to look Demonic. Not sure if there is any subliminal symbolism I have yet to figure out, but I just have a thing for horned creatures.

Both drawings were drawn on bristol paper using pencil, black charcoal,
white chalk, prisma markers, sharpies, gel pens, & prisma colored pencils.

Hi

I decided to create myself a little blog.
It's mostly for showing my artwork.
On occasion, I may throw in a post about my life here and there.

Stick around.
